KARACHI: “A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water,” said the great lady Eleanor Roosevelt and last night saw Pakistan’s women of strength whose journeys needed to be celebrated.
To honour these 100 Miracle Women, Ponds hosted a magnificent night, the second Miracle Journey Gala at Mohatta Palace on Saturday.
The red carpet was set ablaze as stars descended to applaud the achievements of these unsung heroes. Among the ones we spotted, Hadiqa Kiani, Nadia Hussain and Uzair Jaswal clearly stole the limelight.
The evening began with the recitation of inspirational excerpts of Ghalib, Iqbal and Fehmida Riaz followed by captivating performance of Joshinder Kaur Chaggar.
Host Aly Khan took to the stage to highlight the beautiful existence of women and also invited Shazia Syed, Chairperson and CEO, Unilever Pakistan Limited to kick-start the ceremony.
The 10 ‘Miracle Mentors’, including singer Hadiqa, supermodel Nadia, actor Saba Hamid, designer Shehla Chatoor, ophthalmologist Dr Mahnaz Naveed Shah, International Adoption lawyer Tahera Hasan, artist/motivational speaker Muniba Mazari, interior designer Sameena Abbas, TV producer Momina Duraid and makeup artist Shamain Faruque graced the stage to laud the personal and professional lives of the hundred exceptional women nominated.
These women, including health professionals, business executives, entreprenuers, educationists, activists, designers and media personnel were feted with awards for their groundbreaking achievements.
After the inspirational messages, Hadiqa and Uzair took the stage to set the mood right. The melody queen’s touching song and the rockstar’s power-packed performances of Zindagi Gulzar Hai OST were the winning acts of the night.
Shehla also worked her magic by showcasing her regal creations and Muniba touched souls with her resilience and determination during a motivational speech.
The event concluded with the National Anthem as the women of strength joined their mentors on stage.
