ISLAMABAD:

The regular flight operation resumed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) at 10:00am on Thursday after a halt of around 12-hour due to the heavy fog blanket.

As many as 12 in-coming and out-going flights, mostly international, were affected because of inclement weather. “No flight operated from 2200 hours Wednesday to 1000 hours Thursday,” a Flight Inquiry Officer at the airport told APP.

He said almost all flights faced delay in arrival due to dense fog and the regular flight operation started after 10 am. As per international laws, he said, visibility up to 800 meters was mandatory to keep airport operational for landing and taking-off the planes, adding that the operation was halted if the visibility was below the mark.

The National Highways and Motorway Police advised motorists to keep in mind foggy weather conditions and use fog lights while travelling on highway and motorway.
