PESHAWAR: An orientation session on registering and voting in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intraparty elections through bulk-SMS was held on Thursday.

The session was organised at the PTI secretariat by the party’s Election Commission Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Coordinator Zafarullah Khan. Party members who are in the provincial and national assemblies were also present.

PTI K-P Election Commissioner Rustam Shah Mohmand said the party was the only one to conduct such polls on merit. He said the election was an example for other political forces to follow.

Mohmand said there were some illegal practices in the last polls, but added there was no chance of malpractice this time as the process was computerised.

Zafarullah added the orientation aimed to train provincial and district members for intraparty elections. He said all PTI members would be trained on the use of Bulk-SMS and how to vote using the technology.

He said the session was held in all districts. Zafarullah said PTI Chairperson Imran Khan will decide if those elected in the intraparty polls will take part in the next general elections. He said the party chairman will brief the media on this subject on Friday (today).
