Education facilities: Rs1.29 billion released for non-salary budget

The schools are allowed to hire teachers on contracts

The Finance Department released Rs1.29 billion non-salary budget for schools in the province on Wednesday. An additional Rs100 million was released for schools in Lahore.


According to a notification issued in this regard, the money will be transferred to the accounts of the finance and planning EDOs.

A spokesman of the Schools Education Department said this was the first time schools had been given a non-salary budget in accordance with the number of students enrolled at the school. The funds are meant for repair work, furnishing, payment of utility bills. He said ensuring provision of education facilities at campuses wasa a priority of the government.

The schools are allowed to hire teachers on contracts. The non-salary budget for public schools has been released to schools after seven months after the budget was announced due to objections raised by various departments on procedural flaws on transfer of funds.
