HYDERABAD:

Two unidentified thieves looted over Rs1.5 million from the ATM machine of a private bank in Jamshoro district in the wee hours of Sunday.

The bank is located in the Sindh University Employees Cooperative Housing Society, right across Sindh University.

"The thieves sprayed three CCTV cameras, two outside and one inside the ATM room, to avoid being identified and easily stole the cash [by breaking open the machine]," SSP Tariq Wilayat told The Express Tribune.

According to the SSP, the police had advised the bank manager to deploy at least two private guards for night duty.

"We have been telling them to do this for two months but the manager would say the high-ups were not listening, and now this incident has happened," said Wilayat.

He claimed the housing society's administration had also asked the bank to arrange private security for night duty. The SSP said a team of the Special Investigation Unit, Karachi will come to examine the bank on Monday (today).
