NEW DELHI: Actor Athiya Shetty said every Sunday her grandmother sits her down and applies coconut oil to her hair. “I have been doing this ever since I can remember. That’s my hair secret. I don’t need a salon or anything,” she said in an interview.

About her own grooming formula, the Hero actor said, “When I am not shooting, I go minimalistic because I think it’s important to let the skin breathe as well. So, I just use a tinted lip balm. I also like to wear mascara. I can’t leave the house without it… it just brightens up your eyes.”

Athiya is of the view that Indian women are blessed with beautiful eyes and kohl just enhances them further. “It’s a good thing that women in India enhance their eyes because I think they have the most beautiful, almond-shaped eyes. Kohl is the first make-up product that I started using. Even in school, that was the only make-up we were allowed to use,” she said.

However, Sunil Shetty’s daughter said she does like to experiment with make-up at times. “I am new in the field so experimenting is a good thing. It’s all about trial and error. I let the make-up artist take charge but yes I do have a say.” She said with experimentation she knows what looks good on her and what doesn’t. “I never used to do dark lips. But now, I am experimenting a lot with different dark shades of lip colours.”
