Regional security: German minister lauds Pakistan’s role

Visiting delegate will hold key meetings during her two-day stay in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Ursula van der Leyen, German Minister for Defence along with her delegation called on her counterpart Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif at his office in Islamabad on Tuesday. The visiting delegate will hold key meetings during her two-day stay in Pakistan. In the meeting Leyen praised Pakistan’s role in peace initiatives in the region, particularly on the eastern and western borders. The German Defence Minister also appreciated the positive trajectory of Pak-German relations and emphasised further enhancement of ties especially in the field of defence. Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif gave an overview of improved security situation in Pakistan and briefed the visiting dignitary on the success of Zarb-e-Azb and salient features of National Action Plan.
