Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Latif’s unbeaten 170-run knock stuns UBL

Port Qasim were 38-8 before right-handed batsman lifted them to 213-9

KARACHI: An unbeaten century from Khalid Latif lifted Port Qasim from a lowly 38-8 to 213-9 against UBL on day two of their sixth-round fixture in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Earlier on Tuesday, UBL had posted 318 at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad before being dismissed.

Port Qasim had lost four wickets for just four runs and were 38-8 before Latif smashed 32 fours and a six for his 170 off 197 balls to reduce UBL’s lead to 105 at stumps.

At the Diamond Ground, Bilawal Iqbal and Ahmed Bashir took five wickets each for Lahore Blues to restrict Islamabad to 169 in their first innings. Abid Ali (89) was the top scorer. Lahore Blues were batting in their second innings on 95-7.

The Pindi Stadium saw 18 wickets fall in the match between Fata and Rawalpindi. The visitors resumed their first innings on 34-6 and added 55 runs as Yasir Arafat and Saad Altaf ended with five wickets each.

The hosts, leading by 74 runs, were restricted to 106 as Razaullah Wazir claimed six wickets and Irfanullah Shah bagged the remaining four. At the end of play, Fata were batting on 72-4.

At the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, HBL were 110-9 against NBP, trailing by 216 runs.

Hyderabad scored 274-5 in their first innings against Peshawar, who were leading by 51 runs at the day’s end.

At the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, SNGPL were leading by 125 runs and a wicket in hand against SSGC.

Meanwhile, Lahore Whites were batting on 100-4, still trailing Karachi Whites by 263 runs.
