Seeking justice: Widow accuses in-laws of occupying her house

Anika Javed says relatives have police officers on their side.

CHARSADDA: Anika Javed, a widow, accused her husband’s relatives of forcibly occupying her house with assistance from accomplices, including three proclaimed offenders and Sardheri policemen.

She told the police her husband Javed Iqbal’s relatives had taken over her house built on 13 acres of land where she was living with her three children. She claimed Khairul Islam, Muhammad Salam and Mustafa had involved three proclaimed offenders, Jehanzeb, Gul Zeb and Aurangzeb in their plan and also sought help of Sardheri police.

Anika told The Express Tribune the 13 acres of land has fields as well as her house with four rooms.

“The entire property has been occupied by these culprits and I had to leave the place to save the lives of my children,” she said. The woman added Sardheri police officer Tahir was using his authority and power unjustly, and favouring her husband’s family. “These relatives have offered three acres of the land to the proclaimed offenders,” she said.

Anika urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to provide her with justice and take action against the accused. “I have been forced to shift to another location but the culprits are still threatening to kill my children if I don’t give up my property.”

When contacted, Charsadda DPO Shafihullah Khan said Anika should approach him for this issue. “I will probe into the matter and provide justice,” he said.
