For farmer awareness: Ministry to enlist support of mobile firms
The programme would help enhance per acre crop output by educating about the proper use of fertilisers
ISLAMABAD:
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research has announced that it will engage mobile phone companies operating in the country to educate and create awareness among farmers of modern agricultural practices. The initiative would help to create awareness of different crops among the farming community living in remote areas where other sources of communications were not available, said National Food Security and Research Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan. The minister said the awareness programme would also help in updating the farmers about the proper time of crop cultivation as well as modern techniques of cultivation. The programme would help enhance per acre crop output by educating about the proper use of fertilisers.
