India says no decision taken on Pakistan-India cricket series

Indian MEA spokesperson's statement comes a day after PM Nawaz gave green light for series in Sri Lanka

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said on Friday New Delhi has not yet made a decision on the Pakistan-India cricket series.

“No decision has been taken on the India-Pakistan cricket series,” Swarup said on Twitter.

PM Nawaz gives green light to India-Pakistan series in Sri Lanka

The Indian MEA spokesperson’s statement comes a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave his approval for the series.

“Given the current security situation, PCB should hold short series with India at a third location,” a PM House statement said quoting the premier.

Replying to a letter by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan seeking permission to host India at a location other than the UAE, following the latter’s objection, Nawaz gave his preliminary approval.

“The PM has principally given permission for the cricket series and a letter in this regard will soon be dispatched from the PM House to the PCB,” a PM House official said.

While directing the PCB to hold the event at a neutral venue, Nawaz said that the series can be held after all security measures have been reviewed.

While there was no official word from either Pakistani or Indian cricketing authorities on the venue or the exact date for the series, Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Rajiv Shukla announced that five matches will be played from December 15 in Sri Lanka.

“India-Pakistan series will happen tentatively from December 15 in Sri Lanka,” Shukla told the ANI news agency last Friday. With details of the series yet to be finalised, Pakistan and India are expected to play three ODIs and two T20Is matches.

How does an egghead like Afridi becomes disadvantaged, someone who has been playing cricket for the last 19 years and these days only moonlights as a cricketer. His main activities are being a poster boy of shampoo manufacturing companies and being a sidekick of DG ISPR. Do Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood have to come from privileged and advantaged backgrounds to learn the mechanics and rocket science behind running between the wickets?

Coming to Indians, we are committed to confronting them at all international fora constantly and on the border. In retaliation Indians try to make things pretty hard for us whenever they can. PCB should move on and take the financial losses.
