MULTAN:

An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 50 years imprisonment and fined him Rs40,000.

Convict Imran had sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl in November 2014. The girl’s father had filed a complaint against Imran with the Mitroo police station in Vehari district on December 1, 2014. The case was registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police said that the suspect had confessed to the rape.

The petitioner said his daughter had left her house to buy toffees from nearest store when Imran abducted her and took her to a tractor garage and raped. He said neighbours later told him that they had seen the girl with Imran.  The medical report and circumstantial evidence also supported the petitioner’s claim. The court sentenced Imran to 50 years imprisonment and Rs40,000 fine under the Anti-Terrorism Act.  The girl’s father said it had taken a year for the court to decide the case.
