LG Polls: Volunteers must be unbiased while on duty, says DPO

Volunteers from the City and Sadiqabad Circles participated in the seminar

BAHAWALPUR:

Volunteers and special police officials will not be deployed on duty at polling stations in their areas of residence, Rahim Yar Khan DPO Zahid Marwat said at a training workshop at the Sadiq Shaheed Police Line on Monday.

“We want them to perform duties without bias.”The workshop was held to brief volunteers and special police officials regarding their duties at polling stations in the third phase of the local government elections. Volunteers from the City and Sadiqabad Circles participated in it.

DSP Ashfaq Ahmad Gujjar, DSP Javed Iqbal Bajwa, SHO Chaudhry Azhar Iqbal and Security Branch Incharge Hassan Iqbal addressed the workshop. They told volunteers that signing up for the duty made them a part of the police. “You must respect the law and boundaries drawn for law enforcement personnel…you must perform duties while keeping in mind the election code of conduct and remain unbiased.”
