KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) anti encroachment department sprayed water through a fire hose to move the birds’ market that is set up every Sunday at Liaquatabad No 10. The water was sprayed from above the Karimabad flyover, after which a large number of the buyers and sellers fled the area. KMC’s anti-encroachment department director, Bilal Manzer told The Express Tribune that the market is set up in front of the Sindh Government Hospital’s entrance, blocking the passage for ambulances and patients. “We asked them to shift to a nearby park in Sharifabad, but they didn’t listen to us,” he said adding that since the last two weeks, his department has been trying to vacate the area. He said that next Sunday, they will again launch a drive against the market.
