Video of Hakimullah Mehsud released today

Express April 30, 2010

LAHORE: Express received a video of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Chief Hakimullah Mehsud on Friday.

There is no indication of when and where this video has been shot. It is not even clear whether Hakimullah is recovering from injuries.

This video comes two days after the publication of a report in The Guardian that quotes Pakistani intelligence officials as claiming that Hakimullah has survived the American drone attack in January this year and is in fact alive and well.

RNJ | 14 years ago | Reply The video attached to this story is months old, and has already been released. SITE Intel has hosted this video on its website for ages. If whoever sent in this video expects it to be Proof of Life for Hakimullah, it is not (his actual status notwithstanding). If the above video is not the video that Express received, it should not have been attached to the story without a disclaimer that it is known to be old footage, as it could be misleading. If it is the video received, rest assured that it not new, and its delivery to the media indicates no special development.

There was a strong likelihood he was in the process of meeting his creator. But apparently he survived the attack. The question is: Is he in complete control? Or during his absence certain things have happened?
