Delays in Balochistan’s education fund

The Balochistan Education Endowment Fund is yet to see the light of day

ISLAMABAD: The Balochistan government announced the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund approximately seven months ago. It is yet to see the light of day. Although educational institutions have finalised the list of eligible and needy students that would benefit from the fund, which was sent to them by the Balochistan government for further verification, the process is yet to be completed. Moreover, the last announced session of the endowment fund has not been completed, but the next session has been announced. This shows the slow and weak progress of the whole process.

There is no denying the fact that the key aim of any educational fund is to provide financial assistance to students so that their education is not interrupted or affected because of financial problems. I hope the chief minister and the government of Balochistan listen to the students and ensure quick release of the endowment fund. Otherwise, attempts to tackle the education emergency by allocating a huge budget in the province will be futile.
