Alleged target killer handed over to CTD on physical remand

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has sent an alleged target killer wanted for the murder of a prominent Shia leader on a seven-day physical remand.

The court handed over the accused, carrying head money of Rs2.5 million, to the counter terrorism department for his role in killing Allama Nasir Abbas in 2013.

He was apprehended from Dubai and was brought into the country with the help of Interpol, Express News reported.


Five members of LeJ death squad arrested

On October 23, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested Bhatti and five other suspects from Dubai for allegedly plotting to target Muharram processions, government officials and official installations.

According to superintendent CIA police Umar Virk, the suspects Bhatti, Rasheed and Ayaz were also involved in killing 14 people including Allama Nasir Abbas Naqvi, Prof Dr Syed Ali Haider and Haider’s minor son.
