HONG KONG:

Badminton great Lee Chong Wei beat world number one Chen Long for the second time in a row to secure his place in the final four of the Hong Kong Open on Friday.

The quarter-final meet between the long-standing rivals was something of a grudge match after Lee downed the Chinese player to take the title at the China Open last week.

The former world number one will now face giant-slayer Angus Ng in the semi-finals.

The young Hong Konger stunned the home crowd when he beat badminton legend Lin Dan in the second round, and took down Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan in the quarter-finals for a place in the final four.

Chen had the upper hand in the first set, but a late surge by Lee at the end of the second set took the marathon match into a third that went the Malaysian’s way after 85 minutes 13-21, 21-19, 21-15.
