Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has been cleared by Hyderabad police in their report sent to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday, Express News reported.

Earlier, Umar was reported to have been caught by police during a raid in a night party in Hyderabad. The youngest of the Akmal brothers was in the city to play the Quaid-e-Azam trophy match.

The PCB sent him a show-cause notice to which Umar replied that he went to have dinner that night but after taking due permission from the team manager of his domestic team.

Meanwhile, Umar was not selected in the Twenty20 team against England after the PCB suspended his contract as well.

Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi, junior cricket chief selector Basit Ali and PCB chairman Shahryar Khan all believed that Umar should be given a chance to prove his innocence.

Since he has been proven innocent now, Umar will now replace all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed in the UAE as a part of the squad against England for the three-match T20 series.
