United States Vice President Joe Biden reaffirmed on Friday the country's commitment to work closely with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest while expanding cooperation to counter new and emerging threats.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who is currently on a visit to the US, met Biden at the White House.

“Acknowledging Pakistan's crucial role for peace, US vice president recognised Pakistan's immense sacrifices both in terms of human lives and economic losses,” DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa said.
Lauding Pakistan’s contributions towards the war against terror, Biden said ,"US wants to further improve the growing relationship.”
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, regional security and stability.

Further, discussing Pakistan's stance on the war against terror, the army chief apprised Biden of “Pakistan's perspective of maintaining security and stability in the country, which he emphasised, needs to be understood.”
Biden and the army chief also stressed on the need for early resumption of Afghan peace process in order to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan, something that is extremely critical for peace and stability in the region.
Earlier on Thursday senior US senators acknowledged Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism, saying it had ‘degraded’ militant networks in the country.
