In a meeting on Thursday, the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs was briefed about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visits to the US in September and last month.
In US, Nawaz will expose India’s terror sponsorship
Chaired by Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, the meeting was also attended by Senators Farhatullah Babar, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Ayesha Farooq, Shibli Faraz, Javed Abbasi, Tahir Mashhadi and Daud Khan Achakzai, as well as National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry.
The senators also asked for more information on the documents on Indian spy agency Research & Analysis Wing’s (RAW) involvement in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Balochistan.
Members of the committee had initially proposed that the dossiers handed over to the UN and the American government be shared publicly, but Aziz expressed regret because of the sensitivity of the matter.
No compromise on national interest during US visit: PM Nawaz
The meeting was primarily focused on Nawaz’s recent visits to the US, Pakistan-India relations, the Kashmir dispute, RAW’s involvement in Pakistan’s affairs and tensions along the Line of Control.
Calling both visits a success, Chaudhry said the premier’s address to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) as well as the joint statement after meeting US President Barack Obama conveyed Pakistan’s point of view in a very clear and straightforward manner.
