The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) chaired by NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry decided to send the case of media watchdog PEMRA’s former chairman Chaudhary Rasheed Ahmed to the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA).
There was good news for the former medical superintendent of Mayo Hospital Lahore Zahid Pervaiz. The meeting decided to close inquiry against Pervaiz due to lack of incriminating evidence.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, it was decided to file a supplementary reference against former managing director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Mir Shah Jehan Khetran and other officials of the corporation.
Khetran, who already faces charges of illegal appointments, is now facing case of illegally leasing out PTDC land.
Furthermore, the meeting decided to authorise four inquiries. The first inquiry was authorised against the management of K-Electric for collection of more than Rs22 billion on account of tariff relief from 23 million consumers of Karachi and Balochistan in violation of Nepra Order and mis-declaration of revenue collection to the tune of Rs213 billion. The second inquiry was authorised against former CM of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti for accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
The third inquiry was authorised against IESCO chief executive Javed Pervez, Director Finance Asif Kamal and former president of TIBL among others in a Rs81 million anonymous assets purchase scam.
The fourth inquiry was authorised against former Election Commissioner Syed Muhammad Tariq Qadri for having assets beyond known sources of income.
The meeting also decided to re-authorise inquiry against officials of K-P health department for embezzlement of Rs244.9 million through supply of substandard injections for Hepatitis Control Programme.
