This is not the first time that a list comprising criminals has been prepared as earlier several such lists were prepared by the intelligence agencies or the police department, particularly during the Karachi operation. This time, the intelligence agencies have prepared a list of 86 suspects actively involved in criminal activities in the metropolis. Members of political parties and a Lyari-based gang are among those whose names are included in the list.
The list has been dispatched to the concerned officials, who have been asked to come up with a strategy and take action against the criminals. According to a copy of the list available with The Express Tribune, these 86 suspects are involved in targeted killings, extortion, street crimes, drugs, prostitution, gambling and other heinous crimes. According to the list, around 48 suspects are from different political parties and a Lyari-based gang. Sixteen suspects belong to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, 11 are from Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, four are from Muhajir Qaumi Movement — Haqiqi and four are from the Awami National Party. In addition to the political parties, 13 suspects have an affiliation with different groups of a Lyari-based gang, including Baba Ladla and Uzair Baloch groups.
In the list, the police have the record of the accused involved in criminal activities, their residential addresses and mobile phone numbers. The list has been dispatched to the police department and senior police officials have been asked to prepare an strategy for a crackdown.
