ISLAMABAD:

A seminar on women empowerment titled ‘Breaking Stereotypes-You Can Do It’ was organised by International Islamic University Islamabad, on Tuesday. First Pakistani female fighter pilot Ayesha Farooq, former foreign office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam, MNA Maiza Hameed and social activist Fatima Lodhi were key note speakers. “My first flight was the most beautiful,” said Farooq, while narrating her experiences in the field. “Going through rigorous training, no one discriminated me on the basis of gender.” Aslam shared her experiences of representing Pakistan abroad. “You can do it and you should,” she said while motivating girls to pursue their careers and take responsibility to bring honour to the country. “Every one of you must feel confident in your own skin,” Lodhi said. She also explained the concept of her campaign ‘Dark is Divine’ and the inspiration to run it.
