According to Juan, producers of the show have left out vital details which viewers should have known. “First, they should include chapters showing how the [US] Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) charged my dad ‘taxes’ so he could send cocaine to the US territory via Miami International Airport,” he said in an interview.

Juan is an architect by profession and works by the name of Sebastian Marroquin. He shared he had even offered the producers to act as a consultant for the series but the director, Jose Padilha, refused. He noted the series “is an insult to Colombia’s history and to the thousands of victims of drug trafficking,” adding that the episodes were constructed to portray the US DEA in a positive light.
On the other hand the director of the series, Jose Padilha, claimed that Escobar’s offspring do not know much about their father’s criminal background claiming they “were not fully aware of what was going on with their father.”
