HYDERABAD: Hitting back at Imran Khan for offering him ‘political mentoring’, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday said, “Do you teach a fish how to swim?”

Bilawal was responding to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s speech that he made on Friday during an election rally in the town of Matli in Sindh’s Badin district.

Referring to the PPP chief as ‘Baby Bilawal’, Imran had said the ‘Zardari Jr’ was unable to understand that the time for dynastic politics had gone. “You can no longer use your grandfather’s [Zulfikar Ali Bhutto] and mother’s [Benazir Bhutto] picture at your back to call yourself a leader and get votes.”

On Tuesday, Bilawal led PPP’s electoral campaign to Badin – a former stronghold that the party is now defending from loyalist-turned-antagonist Dr Zulfiqar Mirza.

Standing atop the same truck that had carried Benazir on her return to Pakistan from exile on October 18, 2007, the young PPP chairman addressed a public meeting in connection with his party’s campaign for the second phase of the local government elections in Sindh, scheduled for November 19.

Questioning the PTI chairman’s mantra of ‘change’, Bilawal argued that Pakistan’s history was replete with examples that showed the PPP had always been the party to bring about a change in the country.

“A change came in 1971 when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto seized power from General Yahya Khan. A change came when Benazir Bhutto restored democracy in 1988. A change came in 2008 with the end of General Pervez Musharraf’s dictatorship.”
