Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said Pakistan is committed to eliminate terrorism and extremism from its soil for good.
According to the ISPR, General Raheel, who is on a five-day official visit to the United States, met US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter at Pentagon on Tuesday, and discussed Pak-US defence relations, as well as regional security.
The army chief elaborated on Pakistan's perspective on regional challenges, and reiterated that with consensus, the nation will root out the menace of terrorism.

Carter welcomed the Pakistani delegation and accentuated the strategic importance of the two countries that had a shared history.
The US defence secretary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices in fighting the war on terror, and acknowledged the effects of successful counter-terrorism operations that have opened the opportunities for regional peace.
He reiterated the US will play its part and fully support any effort of Pakistan in eliminating terrorism.
