LG polls: 46 candidates elected unopposed for third phase

The number of male voters is 4,065,791 and that of female voters is 3,017,275

Around 46 candidates contesting local government elections in the third phase have been elected unopposed in Karachi. 


According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), initially, 5,548 people were supposed to contest the polls in the city on December 5, but the latest number is now 5,502 as a few candidates have won the seats without contest since no one submitted forms against them.


ECP officials said that nine candidates have been elected from district South, 18 from Karachi Central district, 13 from district West and six from Malir district.


There are 247 union committees and councils in six districts of Karachi, where around 7,083,066 voters will cast their votes. The number of male voters is 4,065,791 and that of female voters is 3,017,275. Sharing details of the arrangements, the provincial election commissioner said that a total of 4,144 polling stations will be set up in the six districts with the establishment of 15,009 polling booths. "There will be 4,144 presiding officers, 22,072 assistant presiding officers and 15,009 polling officers," said the provincial election commissioner.
