The event was organised by the institute’s Pashto society. Senior poets and singers such as Rahmat Shah Sail, Israr Atal, Zafar Khan Zafar, Abasin Yousafzai, Iqbal Shakir, Aziz Manerwal, Izharullah Izhar, Aseer Mangal and Nawaz Yousafzai participated in the event.
The musical event was aimed at highlighting Pukhtun culture, tradition, history and the contemporary situation faced by the people of K-P.
A spokesperson for the society told The Express Tribune, “This is the same stage where famous poets and singers, including Sardar Ali Takar, Khyal Mohammad and Qamar Gula have performed many times. Today again top singers like Almas Khan Khalil and Arshad Khan have been invited to perform.”
The Pashto Society was founded in Edwardes College by Abdul Majeed Afghani, a lecturer of Arabic language who hailed from Utmankhel tribe in Bajaur Agency. He has rendered unmatched services to promote Pashto. The cultural event is regularly held. A large number of singers and poets are invited to participate.
