KARACHI:

No Pakistan player managed to progress beyond the first round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Men’s World Championship — commonly known as World Open — after Farhan Zaman was beaten 3-1 by Egypt’s Omar Mosaad in Chicago on Tuesday.

The youngster came through the qualifiers after winning two matches but could not make his presence felt against a much stronger and seventh-seeded player.

Mosaad got off to a good start as he won the first game, but Farhan fought back to equalise. However, that was it for the Pakistani as Mosaad won the next two games on the trot to win by scores of 11-8, 7-11, 11-1, 11-2.
