Pakistan were beaten comprehensively by England in the third ODI as the visitor's gained 2-1 lead in the four-match series in Sharjah.

The hosts won the toss for the first time in the ODIs and decided to bat first.

A mediocre display of running between the wickets cost them three important wickets of captain Azhar Ali, Shoaib Malik and Muhammad Rizwan as they floundered a total of 208 runs in 49.5 overs.

Chris Woakes bagged four wickets for 40 runs in 9.5 over for the English side.

In their chase, England completed the task at hand with 54 balls and six wickets in hand.

James Taylor scored unbeaten 67 off 69 balls while Jos Buttler assisted him with an unbeaten 49.

Debutante Zafar Gohar, who seemed promising with his left-arm spin, accounted for two batsmen.

Sharjah, with its short boudaries and a relatively dry pitch, will offer a lot of runs for the taking. The question is who will win the toss and bat first today?

Effy | 8 years ago | Reply Azhar Ali, any sane person having 5 percent knowledge of cricket will feel he is worst choice as captain for a ODI. Gone is the time when Sunil Gavasakar carried his bat and remained not out in a ODI and scored some 30 odd runs in 50 overs. The current cricket has changed, Jayasurya, Gilly, Sehwag, Gayle, Warner ( all openers) have set up an example, they didn't let pressure dictate them. But our Captain Azhar plays his game like the team is already 6 down with only 30 runs on board. I blame Misbah for this current of attitude by Pakistan batsmen. where is the flare which Pakistan was known for ? Where is the aggression Majid Khan, Maindad, Syed Anwar, Imran and Inzi used to have ? Why is the PCB so blind not to notice that Azhar is not fit for ODI's let alone being the captain of the team. We have 1 aggressive player in Sarfaraz. Why not make him the captain, he has a under19 WC victory under his belt. Why not get rid of Malik and Hafeez. They perform in 1 match and fail in 20. PCB ??
