Politicians, military officials, diplomats and policy experts, who attended the seminar, “Pak-Turkey defence cooperation in emerging geo-strategic paradigm”, said that the changing global scenario called for furthering the level of strategic cooperation between the two countries especially in the defence sector.
Former air chief Kaleem Saadat, former additional secretary ambassador (retired) Ishtiaq Hussain Andrabi, Nust Associate Dean Dr Tughral Yamin, Muslim Institute Chairperson Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali, and Muslim Institute Research Associate Tahir Mehmood shared their views at the event, that was organised by the Muslim Institute. Moreover, Dr Altay Atli and former member of the Turkish Parliament Ali Sahin participated in the event via video link.
It was highlighted Turkey was working with Pakistan in areas of manufacturing armoured vehicles, tanks, military communication systems and naval patrol boats.
“There is also willingness on both sides to expand relations to other vital areas such as the aerospace industry,” the speakers said.
They said that trilateral relations between Pakistan, Turkey and Afghanistan were also improving, which were crucial for peace and stability in the land-locked country.
