Pakistan earlier refused renunciation citizenship certificate to the singer, necessary to adopt a nationality.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cancelled on Monday the passport of India-based singer Adnan Sami Khan, saying he failed to fulfill the criterion mentioned in the country’s laws.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar confirmed the development, saying the citizen documentation of the singer was cancelled.

“We will not issue NOC to him,” he said.

An NOC is a basic requirement for Sami to acquire any other country’s citizenship.

Pakistan had earlier refused to issue renunciation citizenship certificate to Sami after he remarked, “I don’t need the green passport anymore. I have found my home in India.”

“Why would we issue the certificate to a man who has no respect for ‘sacred’ documents,” a senior officer of the interior ministry had said while commenting on the singer’s remarks.

So he will only be having his Indian passport. Why did he choose it? because he finds India a better place. Simple

Do we not say we like this state more than that state? Does it mean we disrespect one state for the other. Some people may like India more than pakistan and some people( Indians) may find a home in pakistan. After all it is a personal choice. The people of both countries should not keep feeling of hatred for each other in their hearts. This is the job of cunning immature leaders of both countries. Let's leave it to them only...

Do we not say sometimes that i like this state more than that state? Does it mean we disrespect one state for the other? It just means we like something little better than the other thing. Some may like pak more than india nd some may like india more than pak. So i think atleast ppl of both countries should not have any feeling of hatred in their hearts for each other. This is the work of immature nd cunning leaders of both the countries. Let us leave it to them only. Nd yaa @pakistan i wish all indians were like Modi.

Even if he felt this way but shouldn't have expressed this way. Pakistan to its people is a scared land and how dare he to disrespect it? He would have got the required documents if he had applied in an appropriate way. He is very rightly treated by the Pak authorities, if he thinks that he has become bigger then Pakistani Identity then lets see who wins.

When a Passport gets lost during travelling, it's a nightmare. Let Adnan Sami sing the song "Bhar de Jholli with Passport", he does not deserves an NOC without public apology.

Vectra | 9 years ago | Reply 1st when he applied for his passport renewal the Pakistani FO refused and this lead him to be stateless and he requested India to give this stateless person a state by giving him Indian Citizenship.India agreed not only because he is stateless but because his contribution to Indian cinema and as per Indian law he has to furnish the NOC from pakistan and now when he is againg asking for NOC the pakistani FO again refuses.Is pakistani FO playing with a persons life???.How immature is that by Chaudri nisar and FO.Better i would suggest Mr Adnan Sami to approach the ICJ (International Court of Justice) in Hague if the FO continue insisting on its stand.

He can ask his new hosts to grant him citizenship without this requirement. GOP is very right about not issuing him any documents, if you are requesting something your attitude must reflect that.
