Incitement: Man who offered reward for killing Taseer arrested

Khangarh police arrest a man who had announced a Rs20 million prize for whoever would kill Governor Salmaan Taseer.

MULTAN: Khangarh police on Tuesday arrested a man who had announced a Rs20 million prize for whoever would kill Governor Salmaan Taseer. Sardar Ebaad Dogar had made the announcement at a rally organised last Friday against proposals to amend or reform the blasphemy laws.

Talking to The Express Tribune after the rally, Dogar had said that he felt no embarrassment in making the announcement.

He had said he would raise the reward to Rs30 million if someone from Khangarh would kill Taseer.

Dogar had served as Khangarh’s district nazim on a Pakistan Muslim League-Q ticket. He was accused of association with banned organisation Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan before joining the PML-Q.

The police have shifted him to unidentified location and started interrogation.

QuranVsHadith | 13 years ago | Reply Why are murder threats taken so lightly in this country? It is apparent that the people who make the threats have no problem following through with the threats. There is no free speech, yet people are free to threaten others lives? In all rational countries it is the opposite, you have free speech on every topic, EXCEPT for threatening a persons life, including your own life. Everything is completly opposite here to everything that is rational and logical. This nation is lost and the key reason for that is the lack of education. No one reads ANYTHING of world history or even the Quran. What a sick joke this place is.

Anyone who gives fatwah on another person needs to be given imprisonment in the harshest prisons possible. This man needs to be hanged publically since his fatwah resulted in a murder of the governor.

Umair | 13 years ago | Reply very nice.....even so called moderate people are in favor of killing someone...so where is the difference....if u like to answer in the same manner than not claim yourself as educated and enlightned person....other thing which is very important is to deal such things in a more orgainzied way and not in public....clear example is 18 & 19 amendment or 73 constitution......u may win the public support by way of sultan rahi style but not make any serious difference in a society unless u have a clear idology and vision like Allama Iqbal or Quaid e Azam

What can you expect from a nuclear power run by farmers, defaulters, tax dodgers and cronies??? The custodian of religion is ALLMIGHTY GOD and no one else. To beat this devilish force who are holding the entire Pakistani nation to ransom, can the Parliament, Judges, Military and leaders of all political parties raise a common voice to say that the Blasphemy law will be repealed. Lets see how many Fatwas get issued. The Military will have to be ready to arrest (not police) anybody who threatens anarchy or issues a fatwa to kill. If there is violence, military should be ready to fire. The person who has issued a threat for Sherry and Asia should be also arrested and jailed for life. In fact Parliament should table a new law that all fatwa issuers of death will be arrested under terrorism charges.
