Police reforms ‘Committee will finalise proposals’

CM added reforms introduced by the provincial government in the police departments have achieved the desired results

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak announced a special cabinet committee has finalised its recommendations over powers and accountability in the K-P police. This was stated in a handout issued by the CM’s Secretariat on Saturday. According to the document, Khattak was addressing a 40-member delegation of participants for the 42nd Special Training Programme of probationer ASPs. “The recommendations will help improve the performance of the police,” the statement quoted the CM as saying. “In light of the cabinet committee’s report, amendments will soon be introduced to the police act.” Khattak added reforms introduced by the provincial government in the police departments have achieved the desired results. “The change introduced by the K-P government in the police and other departments should be introduced across the country,” he added.
