Higher Education: KU dept launches course in Islamic banking

KUBS chairperson announced that the school is launching different diploma and degree programmes in Islamic Banking

KARACHI: Karachi University Business School (KUBS) chairperson Dr Danish Ahmed Siddiqui announced that the school is launching different diploma and degree programmes in Islamic Banking from the next year to impart knowledge on Islamic banking and finance. “We are starting specialisation in MBA degree from January and a separate programme for Islamic banking next year,” he said, adding that the aim is to facilitate the students from religious schools and madressas to bridge the gap between traditional and modern knowledge. “Higher studies in Islamic banking and finance will give both of them the opportunities to improve their own knowledge and living standards and the lives and afterlives of others,” he added. Faculty of management and administrative sciences dean Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi said that the programme has been approved by the department’s board of studies, faculty of management sciences and the academic council of the university.
