Shc Vacancies: Shortage of judges to end soon, says CJP

HYDERABAD: The shortage of judges in the Sindh High Court (SHC), which has been recently reduced to just 15 per cent, will soon end, said the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, on Saturday. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Justice (retd) Mushtaq Ali Qazi Park in the Judicial Cooperative Housing Society in Kohsar Town, Hyderabad. The CJP said after the appointment of nine judges of the SHC in October, only six vacancies remained. He said the Judicial Commission of Pakistan has been asked to recommend names for appointments. A total of 34 judges, including the recently appointed nine judges, against the sanctioned strength of 40 are serving in the SHC’s principal seat in Karachi, bench in Sukkur and circuit benches in Hyderabad and Larkana. The CJ is scheduled to address the lawyers in Hyderabad on Saturday evening.
