PM visits Swat earthquake victims, announces construction of Chakdara-Kalam road

Nawaz says process of compensation to families who lost their loved ones in the earthquake has been completed

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced the construction of Chakdara-Kalam road while addressing earthquake victims in Swat on Saturday, Express News reported.

"We will connect Chakdara with Kalam and it will be no less than a motorway," the premier said.

Further, addressing the quake victims, he said the process of compensation to families who lost their loved ones in the earthquake has been completed.

"There has been a delay in compensation for those whose houses were destroyed by the calamity because the damage is far more than we had imagined, but this process too will be completed by November 24," Nawaz stated.

"Victims who suffered from complete property damage will receive Rs0.2 million, whereas those whose houses were destroyed partially will receive Rs0.1 million," he added.

"I have visited quake-affected areas myself and will continue to do so to review the compensation process," the prime minister said as he distributed cheques among earthquake victims in Barikot, Swat.
