BAHAWALPUR: Bahawalpur police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of raping, blackmailing and harassing a student. 

Baghdadul Jadeed SHO Inspector Irfan Akbar told newsmen that a student of Islamia University Bahawalpur had approached them, saying she was being blackmailed by a classmate from her Web Design class.


She told police that he had offered her a drink mixed with sedatives after one class.


She said she had fainted after drinking it and woken up to find herself lying naked in a house in Model Town’s B Block.


She said the man had raped after and had taken pictures and made videos of her and was threatening to leak them online if she did not pay him Rs100,000.


She said she had already sold her jewellery and paid him Rs70,000. She told police that he was pressing for more.


The SHO said police had registered an FIR on her complaint and had arrested the man in a raid at his house. He said he had confessed to blackmail and rape.


He said his laptop which had the photographs and the video had been seized.
