PESHAWAR: The provincial government has decided to conduct a crackdown against dealers who sell non-custom paid cellphones in the province.  Officials privy to the development told The Express Tribune Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) compiled a list of traders who were involved in smuggling phones.  “The list included names of well-known people,” one of the officials said. “Traders from within the city have been taken into confidence and FBR aims to conduct an operation against smugglers, like the one conducted in Karachi,” the official said. He added the crackdown has been planned after multinational companies raised complaints regarding the sale of mobile phones for which custom duties were not being paid.
