
Captain Azra Bashir blasted nine goals as Wapda defeated Punjab Whites 12-0. Bashir was impressive in her performance after scoring in the eighth, ninth, 12th, 21st, 27th, 34th, 61th and 65th minutes.
Meanwhile, Hina Kanwal scored ten goals as Railways bulldozed a weak Islamabad side 23-0. Kanwal was aided by Ayesha Bashir, who scored nine goals. Railways captain Sanam Yousuf also scored a hat-trick while Sehrish Ghumman scored one goal.
In another match, Sindh Whites beat Balochistan 5-0. The winners triumphed courtesy Rozina’s brace and a goal from Ambreen Hameed, Kiran Fatima and Asna each.
The event was inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Industries Rauf Siddiqui, who announced that seven of the best Sindh players will be provided permanent jobs in the province’s government. Speaking on behalf of the Sindh Governor, Siddiqui also said that Rs200,000 were being donated to the women’s wing of the Sindh Hockey Association.
The championship features 10 teams vying for top honours and carries no prize money.
