LAHORE: Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed on Wednesday submitted a resolution demanding withdrawal of the new gas tariff. The resolution, submitted to the Punjab Assembly secretariat, calls on the federal government to withdraw the tariff hike. The resolution states that though the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had approved the raise in gas prices, the House had reservations over the additional Rs18 billion burden on gas consumers. The resolution demands that the federal government immediately withdraw the increase in gas prices. On Tuesday, the PTI had staged a protest demonstration at Akbar Chowk against raises in electricity and petroleum prices and the decision to raise gas tariff. The protest was led by Ejaz Chaudhry and MPA Shanila Ruth. PTI Punjab Organiser Chaudhary Sarwar had said the party would protest against the gas tariff at all forums.
