ISLAMABAD: The government plans to launch integrated diabetic retinopathy in the country’s healthcare system by January 2016, according to Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar on Tuesday. She said the three-year project is jointly funded by charities Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, UK, and Fred Hollows Foundation, Australia. The initiative will care for people at risk of vision loss due to diabetes. The project will initially be implemented in Lahore and Hyderabad, and then scaled to other parts of the country based on results, she added.
