Balochistan assembly : Hostile elements may come into action when CPEC project starts: CM

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said on Monday that anti-state forces were out to disrupt the China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

“Hostile elements may try to disrupt the law and order when there is some progress on the construction of the Gwadar-Kashgar highway,” he said speaking on the floor of the Balochistan Assembly.

He told the House that while the government weas making efforts to provide security to all citizens, sectarian fanatics had again started targeting the Shia community since the beginning of the mourning month of Moharram.

The CM agreed to a proposal from the Opposition Leader in Balochistan Assembly that there should be a house committee to hold talks with the federal government on all pressing issues the people of Balochistan are facing.

The House demanded sui gas facility to Harnai Township and other cities and towns of Balochistan.

There was a heated debate on this issue, as most of the members criticised the Centre’s failure to provide piped gas to the people of Balochistan.
