Relief and rescue: Atif calls for better coordination

PTI-led provincial government was striving towards bringing all relief and rescue organisations under one umbrella

Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif said effective liaison and coordination between departments carrying out rescue and relief efforts was the key to tackling natural disasters. He added the K-P government was actively pursuing better coordination by consulting global organisations and agencies. The minister issued this statement while chairing a presentation on natural disaster management in the city, said a handout. He was briefed in detail by foreign organisations, while PDMA and other relevant departments also attended the presentation. The education minister maintained the effects of natural disasters could be negated through the use of technology and better planning. He reiterated that at a time when the world was turning into a global village, the use of technology was a must. Atif said the PTI-led provincial government was striving towards bringing all relief and rescue organisations under one umbrella.
