A low magnitude earthquake was felt in several areas of Lower Dir and Upper Dir at noon on Sunday. Residents rushed out of their houses and the tremors created high levels of panic, forcing the residents to spend time outside their houses. An official of the Meteorological department in Islamabad told The Express Tribune the earthquake was felt around 12:01pm, and the intensity was recorded at a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale. He added the epicentre of the earthquake was 10 kilometres deep in the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan. According to the official, the department received word about the earthquake in Lower Dir through a phone call from local residents, however, there have yet been no calls from other areas.
