A candidate who lost the ward councillor election in union council no226 (Salamat Pura) has filed a petition with the district and sessions court accusing the candidate declared winner on October 31 of rigging the election in connivance with the presiding officer. Petitioner Muhammad Akram, who contested the October 31 election on a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket, has sought action against the presiding officer and a son of the winning candidate, Shahid Alauddin, who was a polling agent for his father. The petition accuses the two of tampering with the result. It says the presiding officer had not given a copy of the result sheet to Akram’s polling agent despite the later’s protests. It seeks registration of an FIR against the two suspects.
