Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Irshad Qaiser issued the notice after hearing a contempt of court application filed by WWB employee Tanveer and several others against officials of the board. The petitioners were represented by lawyer Babar Khan Yousafzai in front of the bench.
Yousafzai told the court some of the employees were hired during the tenure of the previous government and some during the reign of the incumbent government. Those who were hired against merit were sacked and those fulfilling merit criteria restored.
On July 9, 2014, PHC had directed WWB to give salaries to all employees within a month - those who had been restored based on their merit as well as those who had served for several months and been asked to leave later.
According to the counsel, WWB officials did not follow the orders of PHC and committed a contempt of court. After the hearing, the PHC bench issued contempt of court notices to WWB and WWF secretaries.
