KARACHI:
Muhammad Abbas and Yasir Ali led the bowling attack as KRL recorded a resounding 10-wicket victory over Lahore Whites on the final day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s second round at the LCCA Ground, Lahore on Thursday.

Lahore Whites resumed their second innings on 58-6 and were dismissed on 81, courtesy Abbas’ five-wicket haul and the four scalps collected by Ali.

KRL chased down their 73-run target comfortably in 13.3 overs without losing a wicket with the help of Shoaib Ahmed (32) and Zain Abbas (21), while Inamul Haq (21) was retired hurt.

“It was a difficult match as there was no play on the third day due to rain, so winning a match in three days is a big achievement for us,” Ahmed told The Express Tribune. “We are now on number two in the points table with a win and a draw, which has raised the confidence of our team for the upcoming rounds.”

Meanwhile, Azam Hussain took four wickets to guide Port Qasim to an impressive 231-run victory over Lahore Blues at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Chasing 416, Lahore Blues resumed their second innings on 88-3 and were restricted on 185 in 47 overs as Hussain registered figures of 4-19 with Muhammad Sami, Zohaib Shera and Muhammad Talha taking two wickets each giving away 43, 46 and 67 runs respectively.

All the other matches — Islamabad v SNGPL, Karachi Whites v HBL, Fata v NBP, Rawalpindi v Wapda and Peshawar v UBL — ended in draws.
