FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Yawar Hussain on Wednesday suspended Deputy Director Khalid Hameed for assaulting a security guard.

An FDA spokesman said Hameed had parked his car in front of the TMA office. He said Baba Nazir, the security guard, asked him to move the vehicle away from the main gate. He said the deputy director had then slapped the guard.

Following the incident, nearly two dozen guards staged a demonstration in front of the FDA office, demanding that authorities to take notice of the incident.

The demonstrators chanted slogans against Hameed and demanded his suspension. They said such behaviour was unacceptable.

Later, a delegation of the TMA and FDA representatives met the protesters and assured them that action would be taken against the deputy director.

Later, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal issued a directive to Hussain to suspend Hameed and probe the matter.

The FDA spokesman WASA Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz had been directed to submit a report in this regard in three days.
